Ibis established a New Hotel in the Lekki District of Lagos, Nigeria, featuring 120 sound-proofed rooms
Ibis Hotel has opened a new 120-room property in Lekki Phase I, Lagos.
The new facility was commissioned by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
It was described as a further demonstration of investor confidence in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The facility, developed by local investor Otunba Olufemi Okenla, marks the Ibis brand’s second Lagos property, following its 165-room hotel on Allen Avenue in Ikeja, which opened in 2013.
The new hotel features soundproof rooms and modern amenities all designed and built to international standards.
The establishment of the new hotel in Lekki, is expected to create more than 150 direct jobs, with additional indirect employment opportunities for local suppliers across food, transport, laundry and artisan sectors.
The Hotel investment is described to be a boost to Lekki’s growing economic significance – anchored by the area’s Deep-Sea Port, Free Trade Zone and a concentration of corporate and technology enterprises driving demand for quality hospitality services.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said the hotel’s opening reflected confidence in Lagos, Nigeria’s economy and the capacity of local investors to develop facilities that meet international standards.
The Ibis brand had been part of Lagos’ hospitality industry since 2013, when it opened its 165-room hotel on Allen Avenue, Ikeja.
The new Lekki facility further underscores the area’s growing importance as a destination for business, tourism and investment.
Lekki has become one of the Lagos state’s most vibrant areas, with developments such as the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Free Trade Zone, corporate offices, technology companies and creative enterprises driving economic activity and increasing demand for quality hospitality services.
The new hotel had created more than 150 direct jobs, while several others would benefit indirectly through businesses supplying goods and services to the facility, including farmers, food suppliers, transport operators, laundry businesses and artisans.
The investment is aligned with the state government’s T.H.E.M.E.S. plus development agenda, which seeks to create an enabling environment for businesses to grow and investors to thrive.
In relation to that, the hotel management was reminded to prioritize local suppliers and continue training and employing young people of Lagos.
And according to the management, the facility was built to international standards, with soundproofed rooms and other modern amenities that guarantee creature comforts and privacy.
During the launching event, the hotel was dedicated by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre, who prayed for the success of the business, its management and staff.
The event was attended by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, traditional rulers, captains of industry, family members, friends of the hotel owner and other dignitaries.
